HOW DO I GET THOSE FUN AND NATURAL POSES?

Movement. I can’t express enough how much I love movement in photographs. I feel that it really shows the story that I’m trying to tell through my imagery. I try to get all of my couples moving as much as possible because not only is it super fun and makes for cool photos, it’s keeping you distracted from feeling awkward and stiff!

WHERE DO I FIND MY LOCATIONS?

I used to go to the same location allllll the time when I first started photographing people. As I got older and started to branch out a bit more, I started location scouting. I find that sometimes the best spots are the ones that I would least expect it. For example - the session down below, is known as the Pole Line here in Powell River. It’s just a dirt road that runs from one end of the town to the other that people generally dirt bike or walk their dogs on. I have been down this road a bajiilllion times and it only just clicked this past summer - I was like “dang why have I never shot here.. it’s totally giving me sand dunes vibes!”.
